Job Description
We are seeking an innovative and meticulous CNC Programmer & CAD/CAM Designer to bridge the gap between our R&D concepts and the manufacturing floor. At Dr. Frigz, you will design specialized surgical and dental instruments and develop the highly optimized CNC toolpaths required to machine them. You will program complex multi-axis milling machines, Swiss lathes, and laser systems, ensuring maximum efficiency, minimal waste, and flawless execution of medical instruments used by healthcare professionals worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
CAD Design: Use advanced CAD software (like, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc) to model precision medical instruments, fixtures, and tooling based on clinical requirements.
CAM Programming: Generate, simulate, and optimize CNC programs and toolpaths using CAM software (like, Mastercam, Esprit, or PartMaker) for 3- to 5-axis mills and Swiss lathes.
Process Optimization: Develop efficient machining strategies to reduce cycle times, extend tool life, and improve surface finishes on critical surgical tools.
Prototyping to Production: Work closely with the R&D and engineering teams to prove out new programs, run first-article inspections, and transition prototypes into full-scale production.
Documentation: Create clear, comprehensive setup sheets, tool lists, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the CNC operators.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical diploma combined with extensive practical experience.
5+ years of experience in CNC programming and CAD/CAM design, specifically for multi-axis milling and Swiss-type lathes.
High proficiency in modern CAD/CAM softwares
Deep understanding of machining dynamics, speeds/feeds, and tooling selection for hard metals like stainless steel and titanium.
Strong command of GD&T and experience working in a highly regulated quality system (ISO 13485/FDA).
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with machinists and engineers.
