Job Description
As a Mechanical Engineer at Dr. Frigz, you will bridge the gap between design and production. You will be responsible for designing surgical instruments, developing high-precision CNC fixtures, optimizing manufacturing processes, and utilizing advanced materials and 3D printing technologies to enhance production efficiency. If you thrive in an environment that values data-driven decisions, automation, and rigorous quality standards, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Tooling Design: Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) to create, modify, and optimize 3D models and engineering drawings for surgical instruments, specialized tooling, and manufacturing fixtures.
Manufacturing Process Optimization: Analyze existing production workflows to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and implement mechanical or automated solutions to improve efficiency and throughput.
Prototyping & Advanced Manufacturing: Oversee the prototyping phase using 3D printing (including high-performance polymers/composites) and traditional machining to validate designs before full-scale production.
Fixture & Jig Development: Design and test robust CNC fixtures to ensure high repeatability and precision during multi-axis machining operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the production, quality assurance, and automation teams to ensure designs align with international medical device standards (ISO 13485, FDA regulations).
Data-Driven Problem Solving: Analyze production KPIs and equipment downtime data to implement preventive maintenance schedules and continuous improvement protocols.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline.
Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment (experience in medical devices, precision machining, or automotive parts manufacturing is a strong plus).
Technical Proficiency:
Advanced expertise in 3D CAD modeling software.
Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling selection, and fixture design.
Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) technologies and materials.Core Competencies:
Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
A mindset focused on automation, continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma), and data-driven results.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
